Unfinished Symphony: Movement 1

Opening Hook

The music had begun.

Kind of all over the place to start, with scary interruptions along the way.

Then - after lots and lots of measures - it finally found its way to the grandest harmonies and most beautiful melodies experienced this entire time.

And just as it had pulled you into this amazing piece, and you found yourself enjoying it far more than you ever thought was possible......

It all stops.

No warning - just broken.

How It Connects

Music was everything to me from an early age - and by early I mean BEFORE I was ready for school.

More than half of my life included lessons. Almost every year included major performances/recitals.

Songwriting started at 11 and helping other musicians started around 13.

The memory of being awarded for being the most advanced in the entire school from ages 3-14 in the 5th grade was a big deal for me.

It shaped how I attacked learning, reinforced the ability to learn anything I wanted to and retain it.

This bled into the professional world once I reached that age. I learned whatever was needed when I needed to and did a wonderful job.

Then one day - everything I had worked hard to learn seemed so out of reach, it was almost like I knew it was there, but couldn't see it.

The Bridge

There was a planned trip, a headache, an early night with the continued headache, almost a nasty fall and then things went downhill from there FAST.

The chaos of trying to stay the same while everything was obviously not was a part of rebuilding that shouldn't've been. I mean, 2 days after I was working on my laptop in the hospital.

Getting back to a sense of 'me' took sooo, very long.

Therapy 3-5 times a week, living back with the parentals for a spell, losing friends and lamenting over who was far more than desired - after months and months a rhythm began to emerge again.

From a new place...

I know what healing for me can look like - because what young person suffers such a major event and falls asleep THREE times and last 36 hours before getting treatment....and still has their brain!

It's hard; it's not what I would've chosen....but part of me reminds the rest of me that living through it all gave me the opportunity to live entire new life.

Leave Your Mark

This chance led me to think for a moment; I have to leave my mark - this isn't taking everything from me.

I wrote Unfinished Symphony for those that have experienced a life-altering event of supporting those who have. This road has been long - how I sounded then may not be how I sounded later. But, that's why I wrote it. Because, what Gid allowed me to experience and learn - can help the later version of me.

And hopefully you too.
